7 Awesome Instagram Features You’re Probably Not Using

Upload a photo or video, eagerly await likes and comments, repeat. This is what most people think when they think of Instagram features.

The focus of this article is to discuss some of the lesser-known (but still useful) Instagram features that you should be taking advantage of:

  1. Manage your filters

There are about 40 filters on Instagram; there is no need for you to clog up the filter strip and scroll through them all. Instead, you can manage the filters by tapping on the “manage” icon and selecting the one you want to use.

  1. Send posts in your feed to friends.

This is done through Instagram direct. Direct is the messaging feature for Instagram that allows you to send private messages. To send images from your feed to a friend, click on the arrow on the right side of the screen. This will prompt a pop-up, and from here, you can select the persons you want to send to.

Straighten, adjust perspective, and rotate photos

As discussed in our guide 62 Proven Ways to Grow Followers on Instagram in 2018, content is key. Fortunately, Instagram makes editing your content and making it the best to be as easy as pie.

This works best if you crop your image to a square ratio of 1:1. To access this feature, tap on the wrench icon and click on “Adjust.” You can also rotate your image using the rotate icon.

  1. Link more social network accounts

To link other social media accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Flickr to your Instagram account, tap on the gear icon from your profile. Under the settings, tap on the linked accounts options and select all other accounts you want to add.

  1. Change the cover thumbnail on your video.

Before posting a video, there is an additional option of changing the cover image to any frame. To do this, tap on the square icon adjacent to the stabilization icon and scroll across the slider to select a cover shot.

  1. See the posts you’ve liked.

Instagram autosaves the most recent 300 posts you’ve liked. To view these likes, tap the gear icon from your profile. Under the account options, tap on the post; you have liked to see the grid or list view.

  1. Edit captions

If you made an error when typing your caption, you could fix this by typing on the edit option on the right side of your post. Here you can edit post descriptions, add a geotag, tag a person, and/or add hashtags.
